As you discover each one, note down the letter it carries and see if you can piece them together to uncover the secret word. Once you’ve solved the puzzle, return to reception to claim your well-earned sweet treat.

Designed for children of all ages and their families, the activity bag is packed with activity cards and brightly colored information sheets to that spark curiosity, highlighting the creatures to be found in England’s forests with bug pots, binoculars are more to explore.

Join Witch and her friends on an enchanting adventure at Beechenhurst. This interactive family trail is packed with Room on the Broom themed activities, fascinating forest facts and plenty of hands-on fun.
Start your adventure with a Room on the Broom trail pack, available for just £4 from the Information Point or cafe.

A fun, curiosity-sparking trail for ages 6–12 and families, exploring England’s forests and how they compare to the Amazon rainforest.
Located on the Bracelands Cycle Trail loop, this 2.8 km (1.75 mile) circular route follows a mostly level, gently sloping track through mixed woodland above the Wye Valley.

Spring is here, bringing longer days and trails bursting back into life. Get ready to ride!
The Forest of Dean Cycle Centre is one of the UK's most popular trail centres. From a leisurely ride along the Colliers trail to the more challenging Red trail, they have the perfect springtime forest adventure waiting for you.

No bike? No problem! Pedal A Bike Away is located by the Forest of Dean Cycle centre and have an extensive range of bikes for hire including e-bikes, leisure bikes, tandems, gravel bikes & mountain bikes for every ability & trail.
They also offer children’s bikes & accessories (including kids seats, tagalongs, trailers) to ensure the whole family can enjoy the forest together.

Goals Beyond Grass are a Gloucestershire-based charity that works to provide inclusive sports across the county.
Their programme GBG Bikes offers accessible bike hire at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre every Wednesday, from 10.30am to 1pm. Other days and times can be arranged by contacting them directly.

Fun activities for ages 4–11 to explore local forests and learn about sustainable management for people, wildlife, and timber.
Use them in any Forestry England woodland, but for those participating in Children's University, complete the full sheet to earn two learning hours in your passport.

Beechenhurst is perfect for a gentle family stroll or a longer walk. Try the Ramblers Beechenhurst Trail, the Speech House Link Trail, or the Sculpture Trail.
Trail maps, covering Beechenhurst, Mallards Pike, and Symonds Yat Rock, are available for £2 from the Beechenhurst cafe or information point.
You can also download a map of Beechenhurst ahead of your visit.

This all-ability route is suitable for off-road scooters, most wheelchairs, and pushchairs. Follow the winding path through mixed woodland to the Glade picnic area, with benches and information panels along the way. Off-road scooters are also available to hire.

Take on the Gruffalo-themed orienteering challenge at Mallards Pike. Find twelve hidden markers in the deep, dark wood at your own pace, then collect a leaflet, map, and certificate from Mallards Café for £1.50.

Founded in 1986, the sculpture trail is a Forestry England and Forest of Dean Sculpture Trust partnership. The artworks, made from local wood, stone, and iron, are inspired by the forest’s wildlife, trees, and industrial past, and are set among majestic oaks and towering Scots pines.

The enclosed play area at Beechenhurst features wooden play equipment for all ages, including a zip line, nest swing, and mining-themed climbing frame. A wheelchair-accessible boardwalk offers a sensory nature wall, drum table, and rain wheel, while toddlers can enjoy the tower with logs, ropes, and a mini slide.

Whether you've just bought your first pair of trainers, or have 1000's of miles under foot, the trails at Mallards Pike offer opportunities for all runners. Lengths vary from 2km to 10km and they all start from just beyond Go Ape.

This guide to 12 easy walks in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley gives you a gentle introduction to the region and some simple routes to get you started exploring. These 12 walks are all circular and are mainly on clearly defined, wellworn paths, tracks and lanes which should be easy to locate.

Clearwell Caves cover five mines across 230 acres and now operate as a working mine museum. Formed by underground streams 180 million years ago, the caves have been mined since the late Stone Age, first for ochre and later for iron ore from around 100 BC.

Court Farm Lakes offers open water swimming, cold water immersion, BYO paddleboarding, and regular lakeside yoga and fitness sessions.
The on-site cafe is open during swim times, and monthly events — including full moon swims and charity fundraisers — provide a relaxed way to connect with nature and others.

One to One photography training on and around site.
So, why not join professional photographer David Broadbent in the beautiful Forest of Dean & Wye Valley and improve your technique. Sessions are charged per person (two or more may book) and must be prepaid.
Fun, jargon busting and on location, these courses aim to help you achieve specific goals and get you taking better pictures within a day. Cost £60/person for a 2-hour session with the emphasis on bespoke training at all levels. Dates – anytime.
